board drilling requires tiny drill bits, which must be run at very high speeds. Mounting grommets (for vibration). I bought this for the purpose of drilling printed circuit boards with my Dremel tool. It's flimsy, but far better than the stand that Dremel makes, which I consider to be a total piece of junk. If you want a quality miniature high-speed drill, this is not for you, but prepare to shell out $250 or more for one. The Dremel is perfect for this, except that it has to be stand-mounted. The stand does have mounting holes and slots, which I consider a plus.
My Dremel tool fit nicely into the mount, no problem. P.C. were also supplied. Any movement at all while drilling will cause the drill bit to snap.My overall opinion of this stand is that it's barely suited to do the job. The drill center column was covered in a fine coat of rust straight out of the box. The instructions were not too good, but assembly is very easy. If you want something that's just enough to do the job, this should be suitable.
The tightening screw on the press I ordered has no threads to thread into the carrier rendering the press completely and utterly useless. The carrier just rests at the base and has no support. Be wary and buy at the store so you can check it out first.
This stand is much sturdier than I expected, as many of the other dremel attachments out there are plastic and flimsy feeling. In addition to being able to use this as a mini drill press, this is excellent as flexible shaft stand.
I own the XPR and as this stand comes the XPR will not fit. This is a great stand, I had heard mixed reviews of Dremel's own stand so I decided to go with this one instead. I'm glad I did. However, if you email, or phone Dremel they will send you an adapter, free of charge. The adapter fits great and the stand is very precise for the price.
This Drill Press has been a great addition to my shop. It was very simple to set up, takes up very little space on the workbench and allows a tighter degree of detail-work from the Dremel. Some reviewers criticize this tool because it does not measure up to a "real" drill press, which I think is entirely true.and entirely irrelevant. If I had a huge amount of money and unlimited space in my shop, I would overlook this tool in favor of an "industrial strength" drillpress, but for my needs as a general "hobbyist", with a humble budget and limited space, this tool is a GREAT addition to my shop and I am very happy that I bought it.
